UCB CANADA NEWS FLASH!!!

URGENT … We only have until the 25th of Sept, 2008 to get our letters of support into the CRTC so time is of the essence …PLEASE respond ASAP!

Why have we applied for a Broadcast Licence in London and why is it important?

The approval for this licence is important to UCB Canada as it will allow us to increase our listenership in a region that is quite familiar to the Chatham area and will give UCB Canada a huge presence in South Western Ontario.

It will also allow us to make our programming available to small towns and communities in the area that could never afford to have their own local 24/7 Christian formatted station. In other words if your community would like Christian radio, this licence will give you high quality Christian music and spoken word programs.

What should you do?

Send an electronic letter of support ( as per below) and IMPORTANTLY tell as many friends as you think might be interested ( wherever they are in Canada) that if they want this they should also send a letter of support.

Can you make a difference?

YES! Because of the letters of support we received from Belleville and Chatham the CRTC approved those applications…they listened to the local people…they will listen to you! … Please send a letter of support.

We have only been able to have Christian radio in Canada since 1994 …..if we don't tell the government we want to have it they'll give the opportunities to other groups that do.

URGENT … We only have until the 25th of Sept, 2008 to get our letters of support into the CRTC so time is of the essence …PLEASE respond ASAP!

An intervention is a letter or email received by the CRTC which either supports or opposes UCB Canada’s application. The more positive responses, the better – thousands would be great!

"You have become my partners in spreading the good news.” (Phil. 4:3 NLT)
You
can make a difference by letting the CRTC know why you want Christian radio. BUT, time is of the essence. Your letter of support must be at the CRTC no later than 25 Sept, 2008. Any response received later will not be considered.

THANK YOU! We really appreciate you contacting others who will lend their support in this way. Please give them our website address: http://www.ucbcanada.com.

Some Thought Starters for your letter:
PLEASE BE POSITIVE

Please write your personal letter in the box using any of the below subjects that you feel are pertinent

-I support this application because Christian radio deals with:
-social issues from a family perspective
-help the Christian community deal with divorce and suicide
-provide wholesome, uplifting content
-promote humanitarian relief & non profit organizations
-will positively impact my family
-educates & promotes healthy living
-promote & strengthen values similar to mine
-inadequate Christian representation in current media outlets
-a platform to discuss current affairs within the Christian community
-provide daily bible and spiritual teaching programs
-provide children & family orientated programs
-100% Christian musical artists who are not currently available to me on a secular station
-will actively promote and play local Canadian Christian artists who currently cannot get regular (if any) airplay on the existing local stations
-I want to hear a station that reflects my values and culture
-A local Christian radio station will allow me to hear what is happening in my community.
-It would be good to be able to hear some of the programs like Focus on The Family, Walk in the Word with James MacDonald, a preacher from London.
-I would like to be able to hear the Christian music Top 20 on my home radio.
-Currently I can only receive American Christian stations.
-I have heard UCB in Chatham and it is the type of station I'd like for my community
-to get good children's programs on the radio would be good
-I cannot listen to local secular stations because the language is not consistent with my values and beliefs
-I would appreciate a Christian radio station that is safe for all the family to listen to
-I object to having to act as a censor all the time.
-If this station plays the same music as the UCB station in Chatham I could then hear Southern Gospel and Great Hymns of the Faith.
-I believe as a Canadian I have a right to be able to hear my kind of music on a radio
-I would like to be able to hear more in depth Christian Community News. For example what visiting speakers and singers are coming to my area and knowing what church events are on.
-I would like to hear comment on Canadian and World news from a Christian perspective.
-It would good to be able to ask potential politicians how their political platform relates to Christian values. A lot of commentators do not ask questions from a religious point of view and I believe a Christian station would provide that platform.
-We have been talking about getting a high powered Christian station in London for some time. UCB is willing to help us get this type of station and train local people to work in it.
-I have heard Christian radio in the States and would rather have my own local Canadian version
-There are rock, country, sports and news stations in my area already and there is a definite need for a high powered Canadian Adult Contemporary Christian formatted radio station.
-There are many Christian artists who have been leaving Canada to work in America because not many stations in Canada will play their music. We have some great artists and never get to hear them on the radio and this new station will help keep them in Canada.
-As a family we will support this radio stations with donations as well as listening as we know that their advertising revenue will not be enough to sustain the radio ministry.
-I am currently not advertising on any radio station because they do not mirror my beliefs. I would support this proposed station with advertising dollars.
-I have spoken with friends about this station and we all agree that it would be good for the community of London.
-I like the idea of a radio station that is community in it's focus rather than dollar focused.
-It appears that there is every other type of station for all sorts of different community groups and I support the application for a Christian formatted station for this area..
-I have heard the Christian radio stations in Chatham and Belleville and would like something similar to listen to here.
