UCB CANADA NEWS FLASH!!!

Earlier this year, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) issued a new license to MY BROADCASTING to begin broadcasting a radio station on 100.9FM out of Brighton, ON.   When this begins, UCB's current broadcast distance and strength (our "footprint") on the same frequency out of Cobourg will be greatly reduced.   In response, UCB has applied for a new, more powerful frequency, 90.7FM.  As part of the consideration process, the CRTC is inviting the public's comments during an intervention phase that runs through to October 15, 2009.

URGENT! The CRTC wants to hear from you! Do you want Christian radio to continue to broadcast in the Cobourg-Port Hope area?  Are there programs on UCB Canada that will be sorely missed should this application be denied?        SPEAK UP!   Please use the form below to craft your letter to the CRTC.  We've provided some ideas to get you thinking, but please use your own words and thoughts.  Remember:  you only have until October 15th to LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!      PLEASE respond ASAP!
What should you do?
Send an electronic letter of support (using the form below) and just as importantly: tell as many friends as you think might be interested (wherever they are in Canada) that they should also send a letter of support.
Can you make a difference?
YES! Every frequency we've applied for up till now, has included an intervention phase in the application process.  That means, UCB Canada broadcasting currently in Belleville, Chatham-Kent, Bancroft, Brockville, Kingston and currently on 100.9FM in Cobourg-Port Hope has benefitted from the input during this important period of public input.  The CRTC listens to the voice of the local people... they will listen to you! Please send a letter of support.
More Info?
No problem, email or call!  I would be happy to talk with you.

A letter of support can be a letter or an email received by the CRTC which either supports or opposes UCB Canada's application fora new frequency in Cobourg-Port Hope area:  90.7FM. The more positive responses, the better...a thousand would be great!

"You have become my partners in spreading the good news. (Phil. 4:3 NLT)

You can make a difference by letting the CRTC know why you want Christian radio. BUT, time is of the essence. Your letter of support must be at the CRTC no later than October 15, 2009. Any response received even one day later will not be considered.

THANK YOU! We really appreciate you contacting others who will lend their support in this way. Please give them our website address: http://www.ucbcanada.com/.

Some Thought Starters for your letter:

PLEASE BE POSITIVE. Please write your personal letter in the box...you can also use any of the below suggested comments that you feel are pertinent.

I support this application because Christian radio deals with:
  • social issues from a family perspective
  • help the Christian community deal with divorce and suicide
  • provide wholesome, uplifting content
  • promote humanitarian relief & non profit organisations
  • will positively impact my family
  • educates & promotes healthy living
  • promote & strengthen values similar to mine
  • inadequate Christian representation in current media outlets
  • a platform to discuss current affairs within the Christian community
  • words of encouragement that support and help me get through each day
  • provide daily bible and spiritual teaching programs
  • provide children & family orientated programs
  • 100% Christian artists who are not currently available to me on a regular basis
  • will actively promote and play local Christian artists who currently cannot get regular (if any) airplay on the existing local stations
  • wholesome family entertainment
  • excellent children's programs
I support this application because:
  • there is every other type of station in this area for all sorts of different community groups/music genre so I support this application for a Canadian Christian formatted station for our city/region/town.
  • there needs to be a platform that speaks from a Christian perspective when dealing with day to day relevant issues.
  • I like the mix of music and commentary that this station will provide.
  • There is no other Christian station in the area where your views are represented.
  • We have some very strong and gifted Christian Leaders in our community and this station would give them a platform to share their views without secular restraints-I have always wanted to hear Canadian Christian artists and teachers who currently do not get air time on many of the local stations.
  • I want to hear a station that reflects my values and culture
  • A local Christian radio station will allow me to hear what is happening in my community.
  • I would appreciate a station that has the same values as I have.
  • It would be good to be able to hear some of the teaching programs like Focus on The Family.
  • I would like to be able to hear the Christian music Top 20 on my home radio.
  • I have heard UCB Canada on one of it's other stations and it is the type of station I'd like for my community.
  • To be able to get good children's programs on the radio would be good.
  • I cannot listen to some of the local secular stations because the language/inuendos in music and spoken word are not consistent with my values and beliefs.
  • I would appreciate a Christian radio station that is safe for all the family to listen to.
  • If this station plays the same music as the other UCB Canada stations, I could then hear their Southern Gospel features as well as their Great Hymns of the Faith program which are favourites of many listeners.
  • I would like to be able to hear more in depth Christian news. For example; what visiting speakers and singers are coming to my area and knowing what church events are on. At the moment there's very little of this information available to me.
  • I would like to hear comment on Canadian and world news from a Christian perspective.
  • It would good to be able to ask potential politicians what they believe to see if they have the same value systems as me. A lot of commentators do not ask questions from a religious point of view and I believe a Christian station would provide that platform.
  • I have heard Christian talk radio in the States and would like my own station, where this kind of show is part of the format.
  • There are rock, country, sports and news stations in my area already. I support this application for a Christian formatted station.
  • There are many Christian artists who have been leaving Canada to work in America because not many stations in Canada will play their music. We have some great artists and never get to hear them on the radio.
  • As a family we will support this radio station with donations/listening.
  • I am currently not advertising on any radio station because they do not mirror my beliefs. I would support this proposed station with advertising dollars.
  • I have spoken with friends about this station and we all agree that it would be good for this community as it is likely to have family values and standards.
  • I like the idea of a radio station that is community in it's focus rather than dollar focused.
