A note from Garry Quinn, GM of New Projects at UCB Canada:

Recently we asked you, our listeners and supporters, to submit intervention letters and pray regarding an application before the CRTC from My Broadcasting Corporation that, if approved, would eliminate our 100.9FM signal in the Cobourg-Port Hope region.

On May 15th, the CRTC did approve this application by MBC to broadcast their new station planned for Brighton on the 100.9FM frequency with startup plans for the fall of 2009.  Please note that MBC and the CRTC have not done anything underhanded in this process.  There is always a risk of this event happening whenever a station broadcasts on a low-powered, unprotected frequency.

Although this is a disappointment, UCB Canada is also excited about the prospects of retaining a more powerful frequency that will not be exposed to this risk.  Presently there are two such frequencies that could very well fulfill this mandate and, with further study from our engineer, we will be able to identify the best one for our location there.

I want to ask you to pray for this ultimate outcome, taht God will show favour on UCB Canada and the Cobourg-Port Hope area once again by providing a radio band that will fill the void that 100.9FM will leave with Canadian Christian radio.  There is somewhat of an urgency to get this done by Sept/Oct 09, the timeline that MBC is graciously giving UCB Canada to transition to a new frequency.  Please pray that the finances to pay for this transion (an estimated $6000) will come in quickly so we can meet these deadlines.
